Afros & Audio FAQ
What is Afros & Audio now?
Afros & Audio has evolved into a year-round creative ecosystem for independent podcasters, producers, and storytellers. We’re focused on regional micro-events, live tapings, collaborations, and creator activations that bring opportunities closer to where creators live and work.
Will there ever be another multi-day annual Afros & Audio Podcast Festival?
There will be no return of the multi-day conference in 2026. Our focus is on expanding access, collaboration, and visibility through year-round programming. We’ll continue to assess the industry, market, and creative community’s needs to determine if the festival will return in the future.
What are Creator Activations?
Creator Activations are live or virtual events that merge education, connection, and collaboration. Each one features discussions with experts, networking opportunities, and partnerships designed to help creators network, grow their craft and business.
How can I get involved?
There are three main ways to participate:
-
Creators can join to learn, collaborate, or showcase their work.
-
Collaborators can partner on events, sponsorships, or special projects and event activations.
-
Community members can attend, engage, and support the ecosystem.
You can join any path using our Join the Ecosystem form.
What cities will Afros & Audio events take place in for 2026?
Our 2026 activations are planned for Newark, Baltimore, New York, Atlanta, and Los Angeles, with additional pop-ups and partnerships to be announced throughout the year.
Can I sponsor or host an event?
Yes. We welcome partnership inquiries from brands, cultural organizations, and institutions interested in supporting diverse storytelling and independent creators. You can complete our partnership form to connect with our team.
Is Afros & Audio still for podcasters?
Yes — and more. Afros & Audio continues to center podcasting but now also supports audio producers, writers, editors, and creatives working across media and storytelling.
Why bring Black Podcast Creators & Audio Professionals together under one roof?
To celebrate where we’ve been, where we are, and the autonomy we continue to build within the podcast industry. Audio entertainment and information are the future, and Black creatives have the opportunity to define our place in an industry where the soil is fertile and the harvest is plentiful. There are many ways to shape our legacy in this space, and Afros & Audio exists to bring us together to strategize, collaborate, and grow as a creative community.
Is Afros & Audio on social media?
Yes. Follow us on Instagram @afrosandaudio for news, updates, and event highlights.
